Psychological causes of bedwetting in adults

Bed wetting is not your child's fault and there is often no obvious reason why it happens. In many cases bed-wetting runs in families. Today i will discuss about some  Psychological causes of bedwetting in adults.

Psychological causes of bedwetting in adults

Having drinks before bed causes bedwetting in adults:  

Drinking lots of fluids in the evening could cause your child to wet. The bed during the night, particularly if they have a small bladder. Drinks containing caffeine such as cola increase the urge of wee.


Not walking during the night causes bedwetting in adults: 

Once the amount of urine in the bladder reaches a certain point, most people wake up as they feel the need to go to the toilet.

Some younger children are particularly deep sleepers and their brain doesn't respond to signals sent from their bladder, so they don't wakeup. In some children the nerves attached to the bladder may not be fully developed yet, so they don't send a strong enough signal to the brain.

Sometimes child may wake up during the night with full bladder but not go to the toilet. This may be because child fears, such as being scared of the dark.


Underlying Health Conditions also causes bedwetting in adults:

 Bed wetting can also be caused by an underlying health condition such as:

Constipation: if a child's bowels become blocked with hard poo, it can put pressure on the bladder and lead to bed-wetting.

Type one diabties: other symptom of this include tiredness and feeling thirsty at all. 

A urinary tract infection (UTI): your child may have other symptoms such as a fever and pain when they wee.


Emotional problems can also cause bedwetting in adults and children:

In some cases bed wetting can be a sign your child is upset or worried. Starting a new school being bullied, or the arrival of new baby in the family can be be stressful for a young child. If your child has started wetting the bed after being dry at night for a while there there may be an emotional reason behind.
